COMMUNITY GROUPS
Celebrating Israeli independence
Chevrei Tikva, Cleveland's synagogue with an outreach to the lesbian and gay community celebrates Israel's Independence Day on the Shabbat of April 15. For fortysix years, Israel has withstood trial and adversity.
ΧΧ
Although far removed from Israel logistically, Chevrei Tikva feels a kindred spirit. In celebration the Synagogue will begin the Shabbat feast with an Israeli cafe featuring falafel, humus, Israeli salad and beverages. This will begin at 7:30 pm with a nominal cost of $5. . (An RSVP for this portion of the event to Barbara at 932-4419 or the CTLine at 9325551 would be appreciated.)
Shabbat services will begin at 8:30 with guest Kyla Epstein, educational director at
Fairmount Temple. She will lead the service, read from the Torah (5 books of Moses) and do the Drosh (commentary on the Torah portion).
Concluding the service will be the usual
Chevrei Tikva
Cleveland's Synagogue with an outreach to the Lesbian and Gay community
Kiddush (wine and refreshments) along with Israeli singing and dancing led by Susan
from our congregation. This will
continue until 11 pm, or until they
throw us out, or until you drop, whichever comes last.
Remember the date, April 15. This will be CT's first real celebration. Everyone is invited to join us at the Unitarian Society on Lancashire Rd. (between Coventry and Euclid Hts. Blvd.). For more information call 932-5551.
The challenge to attend
Since its inception, Stonewall 25 Ohio has overcome many challenges. At times, our very existence has been a a struggle against finances. Since Victoria Carter's resignation in March, we find ourselves especially strapped for funds. Earlier
this year we projected a net cost of $20,000 to complete our work and furnish transportation to New York for
of Ohio to ensure a safe, comfortable trip and a memorable experience for all who attend. To meet this goal, we present you with a challenge. A challenge to do as the volunteers of Stonewall 25 have done; give
STONEWALL
those who are financially disadvantaged. It is essential that we show the United Nations and the world that we are a community that is both diverse and unified. If the only people in New York are those who can easily afford the trip, this essential need will not be met. To be seen as we truly are, is to truly be seen.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 for the state
NOW LEASING
us your state income tax return.
We need your help and we need
it now.
An informational meeting will be held in Cleveland on Sat-
urday, April 9, at 1:00 pm. For further information, contact Stonewall 25 Ohio at 614-299-7764. Donations can be sent to Stonewall Community Agency, c/o Stonewall 25 Ohio, P.O. Box 10814, Columbus, OH 43201. Please make checks payable to: Stonewall Community Agency. All donations are tax deductible. We thank you in advance for your support.
